The Christmas season is fast approaching.

For many of us, it’s time to decorate the tree, buy gifts for your loved ones, and stock up on all the ingredients for a festive meal.

If you’re hoping to find that perfect unique present, or you want to soak up on the festive atmosphere, then Christmas markets are the place for you.

Thankfully, there’s a range of markets being held across the county during 2019.

Traders will be on hand selling all the festive items you could wish for, from handmade crafts to decorations and toys.

Many of the markets come equipped with bars and food stalls so you can indulge in the true festivities.

Here are the Christmas markets being held around Lancashire this year:

Clitheroe Christmas Markets

When: Saturday December 7, 14 and 21 from 9am – 4pm.

Where: The Bullring, Clitheroe.

Making it’s fourth return, the Clitheroe Christmas Market is back once more.

Taking place in The Bullring, Clitheroe, there’ll be traditional cabins, festive lights and beautiful garlands decorating the central square to get you in the festive spirit.

Guests can visit a range of traders including pop up shops, gift stalls, street food and ‘plenty of good cheer’.

The markets are being organised by Ribble Valley Borough Council and if you would like to apply for a stall or you are a street entertainer and wish to perform then you need to complete forms on the website here.

Station Promenade Christmas Markets

When: December 1, 9, 16 and 23.

Where: Station Buildings, Marine Road West, Morecambe, LA4 4DB.

Following a ‘hugely successful trial run’ last year, the Station Promenade in Morecambe is back with magical Christmas Markets.

Get ready for craft stalls with unique gift ideas, delicious hot food stalls, mulled wine, a choir, festive music and Christmas themed activities for the children.

It’s the perfect festive day out.

They will be held on Sunday December 1, Monday December 9, Monday December 16 and Monday December 23.

On Sunday December 1, the Christmas Markets will intertwine the Morecambe Christmas Lights Switch on with Craig Charles, which will be held next door at the Festival Market.

If you want to book a stall, you can call 410724 or pop in at your earliest convenience.

Stalls are £10 per evening with a maximum booking of two evenings throughout December.

Rawtenstall Christmas Markets

When: December 7, 14, 21 and 22.

Where: Rawtenstall Market, 20 Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall, BB4 7QX.

A series of Christmas markets will be held in Rawtenstall this year.

Come and join in the festivities at the Rawtenstall market with family, friends and neighbours over four dates.

You can eat, drink, laugh, socialise, listen to the music, browse the stalls, shop, choose presents and even meet Father Christmas.

There will be brass bands, festive lights, roasted chestnuts, singing and music.

Guests are asked to wrap up warm as they enjoy a delicious hot chocolate, hot spiced tea, coffee or a glass of mulled wine.

A range of food options will be on hand as well as an on-site nano bar The Cabin from Three Valleys Brewery.

Lancaster Christmas Markets

When: November 22, 23 and 24.

Where: Lancaster Brewery, Lancaster Leisure Park, Wyresdale Road, Lancaster, LA1 3LA.

Lancaster Christmas Market is back for 2019.

This year the event will be held at the Lancaster Brewery on November 22, 23 and 24.

There’ll be some of the best food, drink, and handmade gifts and crafts from the local area and beyond.

You’ll also get the chance to try out all of the top ales on tap from Lancaster Brewery, as well as quality entertainment.

You’ll find Christmas gifts, hot food, mulled wine, market mugs, a mini fun fair, Santa Claus, winter cider and festive treats at Lancaster Christmas Market.

When: November 9, 10am – 3pm.

Where: Trinity Methodist Church, Gregson Lane, Hoghton, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 0LD.

There are loads of stalls to choose from at the Crafty Christmas Market in Hoghton.

Find unique handcrafted goods, ideal for Christmas gifts.

You can bring the kids to visit Father Christmas and Elves in their Grotto.

A wide range of food options will also be on hand including breakfast, lunches, cakes, snacks, and hot lunches in the pop up tea room.

There’ll also be a children’s craft room, a festive selfie booth, a prize every time tombola, a hamper raffle, a general raffle, a name the ted, a book stall, and more.

And the best thing? It’s completely free.

When: November 22, 4pm – 9pm and November 23, 10am – 5pm. 

Where: Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn Cathedral Crypt, Blackburn, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 5AA.

A fantastic frost fair is coming to Blackburn Cathedral over two dates.

A vibrant ​twilight ​indoor night arts market will be held inside the atmospheric​ Blackburn Crypt.

This unique arts and specialist foods market will ensure you a stress free, tailor-made shopping experience, that you can enjoy with all the family, friends or on your own.

The fair will feature the ‘finest selection’ of talented artisans from across the North West.

And admission is free of charge.

When: November 16, 11am – 4pm.

Where: Parbold Village Hall, 2 The Green, Parbold Village, Parbold, Lancashire, WN8 7DN.

The Artisan Network is inviting you the traditional family Christmas fair – with a twist.

The Parbold Frost Fair is a “must go” for those wanted to find quality handmade gifts.

You’ll find original art, handcrafted items, children’s toys, clothing designed and stitched by the maker.

There’ll be delicious food on hand, including artisan cheeses, handmade chocolates, fully filled pies and sweet pastries.

And the event is totally free.

Great British Food Festival – Christmas Festival

When: December 14 – 15, 10am – 5pm.

Where: Stonyhurst College, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 9PZ.

Get in the festive spirit at the beautiful Stonyhurst College.

Said to be a ‘Christmas shopping experience like no other’, the Christmas Great British Food Festival is being held over two dates.

There promises to be food, drink, gift and craft stalls a plenty, along with chef demos and Christmas cheer.

This event is mostly a Christmas shopping experience inside the buildings, with only a selected number of hot food and bar options outside.

Tickets are priced per day at £6 for adults, £3 for children, £5 concession and £19 for family tickets.

The Boo’s Christmas Art Market

When: November 23, 10am – 5pm.

Where: The Boo, 679 Bacup Road, Waterfoot, Lancashire, BB4 7HB.

Find you Christmas present inspiration at the The Boo’s Christmas Art Market in Bacup.

It’s taking place on the last weekend in November, just in time for Christmas!

There’ll be an array of unique gifts and handmade decorations on offer.

And you can try out some tasty treats with homemade mince pies and mulled to get you in the festive spirit.
